The Gut and Skin Clinic

Microdermabrasion at Dublin Vitality Centre

To see real improvements in skin and gut, consider the most powerful force on earth, nature. At Dublin Vitality Centre, we do and we combine natures most powerful elements with the very latest advances in scientific skin technology. Diamonds are one of the hardest substances on earth. During microdermabrasion, microscopic diamond-like abraders are used to remove oil, dirt, grease, and dead superfluous dermal debris from the skins upper dermal layer.

When is microdermabrasion used?

Microdermabrasion is a powerful exfoliation process used to prepare the skin for other advanced dermal protocols like IPL laser, or microneedling. Alternatively, it can be used as a stand-alone lunch-time skin pick-me-up to alleviate years and years of unwanted build-up, and reveal glowing skin excellence.

What is the downtime after microdermabrasion at Dublin Vitality Centre?

Usually downtime is minimal with microdermabrasion at Dublin Vitality Centre. Whilst there may be some redness, you will be able to apply light makeup within 1-2 hours. Record healing-time is likely due to advanced gut and skin friendly dermal product usage which generally enhances the peeling process thereby working with your bodys healing responses, without undue harshness, removing the risk of protracted after-effects.

What are the benefits of micro-needling at Dublin Vitality Centre?

Skin is left beautifully clean, and makeup glides on with superb ease. The base of the skin has been resurfaced, and there is a luminescent glow as new collagen is produced over the coming weeks.
If you are planning to undergo microdermabrasion as part of a skin recovery package at Dublin Vitality Centre, you will be delighted to find that this remarkable skin treatment removes excessive peeling often associated with skin microneedling. Therefore, we recommend undergoing microdermabasion a week in advance of your micro-needling skin course at Dublin Vitality Centre.

What skin type is microneedling most suited for?

Microneedling is suited for all skin types except those who are prone to broken veins. A better option for those with thread veins or rosacea is a light glycolic peel which is also available at Dublin Vitality Centre. Microdermabrasion is particularly beneficial for those with thick, oily skin, as it has a highly pleasant mattifying outcome which causes the skin to lose its shiny, unflattering appearance, and to glow with pleasing velvety softness.

Can microneedling be done on all skin types?

The appeal of microdermabrasion at Dublin Vitality Centre for its matt-giving properties, and the fact that we veer towards intelligent gut aware holistic skin protocols has made this treatment a big hit with people of every race and ethnicities. We have many years of experience with skin of all types. And unlike some laser treatments, microdermabrasion is very much a skin treatment that is suitable for all skin types, colours and tones.

Can I do microdermabrasion at home?

Advanced skin protocols like microdermabrasion should never be attempted at home. Not alone are the systems ineffectual. They may also create untold problems and further exacerbate problem skin. Be mindful that at Dublin Vitality Centre, we have over 15 years experience and our programmes are based on mindful, measured, and practiced skin therapy disciplines which simply cannot be matched with home treatments, or those offered by unpracticed, uncertified hands.

When done by a qualified skin professional, microdermabrasion is a safe and noninvasive treatment which can progressively improve and resurface the skin over 5 – 10 weeks. Diamond microdermabrasion is used at Dublin Vitality Center as part of the exclusive 4 Step Anti-Aging Skin Rejuvenation programme. Diamond Microdermabrasion tips are actually thousands of tiny diamond particles which are used to abrade away dead skin and sun damage from the upper dermal layer.

Medical Microdermabrasion is the gradual removal of layers of skin using advanced mechanical abrasion techniques which are designed to remove dead cells and to reveal the younger skin underneath. The process also encourages new cell production, which means that, not only do you benefit from the removal of the damaged skin in the upper dermal layer, but your skin is encouraged to produce new cells and collagen.

Microdermabrasion is the number one skin treatment recommended to improve the appearance and texture of male skin. It specifically helps reduce shaving rash and and blocked follicles. It is often followed by diathermy for the removal of unsightly broken red veins around the nose. Diamond microdermabrasion uses a mechanical device with a hand held wand which is surfaced by thousands of tiny diamond particles. These are used to gently abrade away dead skin and suck collagen up to the dermal layer resulting in younger looking skin over a number of weeks. The treatment is pleasant and pain free.

At Dublin Vitality Center, medical microdermabrasion is combined with the most advanced skin science products. Hyaluronic acid is applied to the skin after the treatment. This enables 1000% more moisture to be locked into the skin . The stratum corneum is the outermost layer of the epidermis, comprised of 15 to 20 cell layers, functioning to protect the underlying dermal layer. Microdermabrasion gradually removes these layers to reveal younger skin underneath. When the stratum corneum is moist (full of water), it is flexible, smooth, and translucent. Microscopically, the surface is smoother and less irregular after each microdermabrasion treatment. When moist with water and hyaluronic acid, stratum corneum cell plates swell and plump which means that wrinkles and fine lines are instantly plumped out.

At the dermal level, the major protein is collagen, a glycine and proline-rich helical protein making up approximately 90% of dermal collagen . The stratum corneum consists of approximately 40% protein and 40% water; the rest is mainly lipid. The skin is held together by many fibres. This connective tissue are composed of collagen fibers, elastic fibers, and an interfibrillar gel of glycosaminoglycans. However, as we age we lose this collagen and the skin becomes looser. Active peptides and collagen are applied to the skin after microdermabrasion at Dublin Vitality Center. But thats not all, due to the mild cellular trauma created by this wonderful treatment, the skin produces natural collagen. This results in younger looking skin which looks natural and hydrated.

After microdermabrasion, you must protect the skin with sun protection factor 30 for daily wear. An advanced broad spectrum SPF factor 30 is best. The most advanced SPFs are designed to protect skin even from the damage caused by environmental toxins and radiated glare from long term exposure to PCs and other devices , as well as uva and uvb light. This advanced SPF is now available exclusively at Dublin Vitality Center. It is suitable for men and women and can reduce rosacea (facial redness) and pigmentation, with regular applications. It is also an ideal primer.
